Munster Rugby

Munster Rugby is an Irish professional rugby union team based in Munster, that competes in the Magners League and Heineken Cup. The team represents the Irish Rugby Football Union Munster Branch which is one of four primary branches of the IRFU, and is responsible for rugby union in the Irish province of Munster. Their main home ground is Thomond Park, Limerick, though some smaller profile games are played at Musgrave Park, Cork. Munster currently play in an all red home strip, while the away jersey is navy. The Munster Rugby logo consists of three crowns and a stag. The team motto is "To the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible"; it is derived from the motto of the MacCarthy clan - "Forti et Fideli nihil difficile".

Munster is known for its passionate support and games involving Munster hold several Heineken Cup records for highest attendances in every stage of the finals, as well as the highest ever attendance for a rugby game in both Spain and Switzerland. In 2008, Director of Coaching Declan Kidney left to take up the head coach job with Ireland, and Munster ensured continuity by promoting Australian Tony McGahan to the position from within the coaching setup.

As of the end of the 2010 season, Munster retain their 1st place on the ERC European Rankings ahead of Toulouse, winners of the 2010 Heineken Cup Final and Leinster.

Nick Easter - International Rugby Player

Easter made his England debut against Italy in the 2007 Six Nations just one week after his England Saxons bow against Italy A.

He soon cemented his place in the elite ranks and scored a remarkable four tries against Wales in their Rugby World Cup warm-up clash later the same year and would go on to start six matches at RWC'07 as one of the stand-out performers on England's run to the final.

Injured for the opening round of the 2008 Six Nations, he regained his place from England debutant Luke Narraway the following week and was voted man of the match in England's victory over France in Paris.

He failed to get the nod for Martin Johnson's first Elite Player squad in the summer 2008 but injuries saw him drafted in for the autumn internationals where he made the most of his promotion by starting all four matches.

Easter was subsequently rewarded for his strong run of form for both England and his Premiership side Harlequins by being recalled to the Elite Player Squad for the 2009 Six Nations. He played all of England's Tests during the tournament and both of their summer fixtures against Argentina, with the series ending 1-1.

Injury ruled him out of England's poor 2009 November series, but upon his return to the Harlequins side his form was good enough to secure an international recall ahead of the 2010 Six Nations.

He played for Rosslyn Park and spent a year in South Africa with the Villagers club before joining Orrell in October 2001. He later switched to Harlequins in August 2004.

Sailosi Tagicakibau

Tagicakibau has become a fixture of the Guinness Premiership since his move to London Irish in 2005. The 'Samoan Flyer' has made a name for himself with Premiership fans due to his searing pace, devastating right foot step and ability to score thrilling tries.

Tagicakibau was born in Auckland, and attended the famous Wesley College as a teenager. It was here that his rugby skills were honed and upon leaving he was recruited to play for Counties Manukau in the NPC division 2.

His coaches at this stage recommended that he switch from flank to wing, seeing his pace and skill levels develop. Tagicakibau's performances that season attracted the attention of the Samoan selectors, and he scored a try on debut against Namibia in a pre-World Cup tour of South Africa in 2003.

After being selected for the World Cup squad, Tagicakibau notched tries in the pool games against Uruguay and Georgia before he announced his talents to the northern hemisphere teams with two blistering runs during the pool match against England.

Following the World Cup Tagicakibau played a full season for Taranaki in the 2004 NPC under the guidance of former All Black full back Kieran Crowley. Tagicakibau was invited to join up with the Waikato Chiefs Super 12 side following the NPC, playing eight matches for them during the 2005 competition.

Following his successful switch to London Irish Tagicakibau has represented the touring Pacific Islands against Wales and was also selected for Samoa's 2007 World Cup squad. A disappointing tournament saw them exit at the group stages with only one victory to their name and Tagicakibau only featured in their agonising loss to arch rivals Tonga.

Tagicakibau had a successful domestic season in 2007/8, helping London Irish to a Heineken Cup semi final against Toulouse, where he scored a memorable try but was unable to stop his side sliding to defeat.

Tagicakibau continued his finr form into the 2008-09 season, helping London Irish to the top of the Guinness Premiership at Christmas.
